In July 2023, we drove from Copenhagen to the South of France, visiting vineyards in
Germany and France on our way through Europe. It was the beginning of the perfect
month-long summer vacation! Our destination was my family summerhouse in the small
medieval Provence-village, Bargemon. I have been spending my summers there since I
was very young, so it is a place filled with memories for me and my family. On the very
warm Bastille-day, we went for a walk and while looking over the mountains, Morten pulled
out a pink box, went down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. Not only did I feel
very seen in being proposed to at a place that means so much to me – the three-stone ring
that Morten had chosen was just me.
However movie-like it sounds, our proposal was a complete out-of-body experience with a
lot of happy tears, in which I ended up putting the ring on my own finger out of pure
excitement and utter surprise – and I would not have had it any other way. We are so
thankful for this perfectly imperfect moment and the beautiful ring that reminds us both of it
every day.
